It’s almost that time of year again! My favorite time of the year!
If you happen to be a tourist visiting Las Vegas between January 6 and 9 and it seems a little crowded, that’s because there are about 130,000 people from all over the world here to attend the annual tech show, CES.
What is CES?
If it’s a new or upcoming consumer product with a computer chip, chances are very high it will be showcased at CES. This includes everything from smartphones and laptops to smart home devices, self-driving cars, and even not-so-futuristic concepts like AI-powered robots.
CES is a crucial event for the tech industry. It provides a platform for companies to unveil new products, demonstrate cutting-edge technologies, and network with industry leaders.
It is for industry only. Meaning closed to the public.
CES not only dominates the Las Vegas Convention Center and the Sands/Venetian, but it also spills over into the Strip’s most exclusive venues. Top-tier restaurants host lavish product launches and networking events, while penthouse suites in the Venetian, Caesars Palace, Aria, and Wynn become hubs of industry activity.
AI will Dominate the Show in 2025
Each year, one product dominates the show. Like the year Amazon released Alexa. Almost every product exhibitor seems to find a way to tie in their products to the use of Alexa and Google Nest, even if it had nothing to do with either of them.
This year, it’s all about AI (artificial intelligence). AI is now built into everything, from your electric toothbrush to your mattress and even your dog’s water dish.
CES is where we get a unique window into the future of consumer technology. Attendees witness not only the products launching in the coming months and years but also glimpse the innovations still in development – those on the drawing board, in the early stages of prototyping, and undergoing cutting-edge research in labs and universities worldwide.
The press releases I’m seeing suggest a year of unbelievable change. There will not be any part of your daily life that will not be changed. Get ready for your life to be turned upside down in 2025.
The Vegas Tourist at CES
As with most years, I will be there, and I will be posting from the show floor and other events. The show is so large that one person can not cover it all adequately. So, I need to prioritize.
Media gear – Cameras, editing, supplies and tv’s/monitors/streaming, etc
Automotive – Autonomous vehicles are in the full release stage, so there are plenty of things to see there.
Healthcare – we are getting lod, and the technology to improve our lives is awesome
Travel – How we travel and experience the world now is very much AI-oriented
Can’t make it? Do you have something about the consumer electronics market you want me to check? Drop me an email to thevegastourist(@)gmail.com
The cameras are charging, the battery packs are in good shape, and the tripods are in the camera bag. I’m Ready to Go!!
I’m looking forward to seeing what the future will bring at CES 2025…
