EDC 2025 is in town. Are you ready?
For all my Vegas social media voyeurs. Get ready for an onslaught of some not-so-ordinary “Vegas” photos this weekend. And for Las Vegas, being not so ordinary is a difficult thing to accomplish.
Why? Well, it's EDC weekend, of course!
What is the EDC crowd, you ask?
EDC stands for Electric Daisy Carnival. For Vegas, it means a colossal, three-day electronic dance music (EDM) festival organized by Insomniac Events. Colossal is an understatement.
“Held annually in May at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, it stands as the largest EDM festival in North America, drawing over half a million attendees. More than just a music festival, EDC is an immersive, multi-sensory experience that blends cutting-edge stage production, world-class DJs and performers, interactive art installations, carnival rides, and a vibrant atmosphere of unity and self-expression.”
Pasquale Rotella, the founder and CEO of Insomniac Events, was once married to Holly Madison, a former Playboy model and Las Vegas show headliner.
Started in Southern California in 1991, it outgrew its roots and moved the main event to Las Vegas in 2011.
The half million attendees is kind of an exaggeration, as it is based on attendance over three nights. This year, they are expecting 175,000 people each night.
So, if you find yourself in Las Vegas this weekend and wondering why the casinos and the showrooms seem a little empty at night, it's because most of the people in town are out at the speedway. For some tourists, that is a bonus!
